A female elementary teacher in Wayne Township, Indianapolis was recently killed after the bicycle she was riding was struck by a truck, a report for wishtv.com reported on October 13.

Authorities from the Marion County Coroner’s Office revealed the identity of the fatality as Rhoades Elementary teacher, Erika Wells, 38. Wells, who was a kindergarten teacher, succumbed to her injuries after she was struck by a box truck while on State Road 37. Reports revealed that the truck driver, David Fields, 56, did not run from the crash scene and helped authorities with their investigations. Rhoades Elementary in a statement said that Wells was an amazing teacher and they are saddened by the incident. The school also offered help grief counselors as they believe many of the students and staff are affected by the loss.
